Breast Cancer Awareness Month is just about to come to a close, but it’s not too late to ask the Susan G. Komen Foundation to cut out animal research! Every 12 minutes, a woman in America succumbs to breast cancer, but the Susan G. Komen Foundation continues to waste funds on cruel, outdated, and unreliable animal tests as the clock ticks on cancer patients’ lives.

Please support humane breast cancer charities, such as the Avon Foundation, which channels its funds into prevention, community-based organizations, and cutting-edge clinical research.

Searching for a cure shouldn’t cost animals their lives. Please take a moment to urge Susan G. Komen Foundation officials to immediately end all support for animal tests!

  1. Shari Tharp Says:

Please discontinue the outdated, unreliable and cruel animal tests. I will only suport charities that do not harm others.
    Thank you.

  2. stephanie Says:

Alarming that you’d sacrafice one being for another. You should focus on prevention.

  3. Linda Sarmiento Says:

No more killing of God’s creatures!

  4. Megan Geier Says:

I know that saving human lives is something that needs to be done. but also, what needs to be done is, NO MORE ANIMAL TESTING. I may help people out more to know the love of an animal. Once you save them, they will show you love that nothing else can! Please stop testing on animals!
    Thank you.

  5. Ed Says:

While I agree that the use of animals in research is cruel and unfortunate, the opponents of this type of research are unbelieveably misinformed. Everywhere I see the argument that animal testing is “wasteful”, “outdated” and “unnecessary”.

These same sources claim that the same results can be obtained from clinical trials, cell culture assays and computational modelling.

While cell culture studies are certainly indispensable in biomedical research, the holistic make up of humans and animals is much more than the sum of their parts. The way a cell behaves in culture may be very different from the way it behaves when interacting with organs, tissues, hormonal responses etc.

I am personally involved in biological modelling. This is a growing field and is helping us to understand many new things about the way cancer, among other diseases, functions. Yet models are not built from abstract principles: they are fitted to what we learn from the results of experiment, both in tissue culture and in animal models. I don’t work on experiments with cell lines or live animals but no modelling of clinical relevance would be possible without data from animal studies.

Finally, clinical trials are of course a necessary step in developing treatment, but no clinical trial can be approved unless a treatment has shown promising results with manageable side effects in animal trials.

I’m a vegetarian and advocate of animal welfare but calling for a ban on all animal testing is naive. In the case of cosmetics and scientific research with no medical link then I would agree, but in studying cancer, genetic disorders, immunological defects and many other disorders it is an unfortunate but important link in the process of developing treatment. I very much hope that the use of animals can be minimised in the future but calling for an immediate ban and using misinformed and simplistic arguments will not encourage the scientific community to engage with the issue.

This letter is to the Susan G. Komen Foundation:

I will do my best to stay polite in this letter.
I understand that fining a cure is an important thing to do, almost every woman in my family has breast cancer, so believe me, i want you to find a cure, but is testing it on animals necessary?I understand that testing is important, but try it on a natural substance, not God’s precious creations. When you see a cute monkey, do you go,”Oh, how adorable”, or “Let’s test on it, it’s just a stupid worthless animal who can’t make the choice of us killing it or not”?
STOP ANIMAL TESTING! They are defenseless and they don’t make the choice, you do.

  7. Trisha Says:

I sent a letter to the Susan G. Komen foundation and I must say it was hard to keep it polite. In fact, towards the end, it wasn’t polite at all.
My nana donates frequently to this foundation and after I told her about this, she said she wanted to sue the company. And they deserve to be sued. WHAT THE H— IS THERE PROBLEM?????????
Okay, deep cleansing breath and thank you for letting me post this vent.

  9. RR Says:

    Stop Researching on Animals!
