Traditional meringue cookies are usually made from little more than egg whites and sugar. A recipe that has eggs as one of its only two ingredients might seem hard—OK, impossible—to veganize, but Angel Foods has released a new cookie mix that is making it a whole lot easier.

You may remember the name Angel Foods from a Veg Cooking Blog contest a while back to give away its vegan marshmallow kit. Well, Angel Foods has now released a vegan meringue cookie kit that requires just water, sugar, a mixer, and a good dose of patience to make those airy and light French cookies you might be missing.

Now is your chance to win one of these kits and test it out for me! We’ll be giving away one vegan meringue cookie kit on The VegCooking Blog and one kit on PETA Living. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment and tell us about your favorite cookie. Be creative, and please make sure that your comments are vegan-friendly!

And now for the legal stuff: The contest ends on October 17, and winners will be selected and notified by October 24. You should also be sure to read the contest terms and conditions and PETA’s privacy policy before you comment—you’re acknowledging that you have read and agree to both by leaving a comment.

  20. Nora Scott-Platt Says:

I have never tried a vegan recipe and this would be a wonderful opportunity. I do make pumpkin cookies and I substitue oils for applesauce. I add nuts and raisins.

  21. Katie Says:

My favourite (imaginary) cookies would have to be for sweet:
made from wholemeal flour, be infused with rich hazelnuts and decorated with scrumptious oats & brought dancing to life in my mouth with strawberry jam (or jello i think it’s called in the US but i’m not sure)

    For Savory:
Again using wholemeal flour entwined with aromatic spices such as cayenne pepper & oregano then for a tantalizing twist topped off with cashew nuts.

and for either savory or sweet, they must be warm straight from the oven:)

  22. Mike Weisberg Says:

    i want to win

  33. Kimberly Says:

Peanut Butter cookies are hands-down my favorite cookie… especially when they are soft, warm, and bit chewy. YUM!
Like many others have said… you can use applesauce to replace the eggs in the mix… I’ve also found that you can use soaked dates that you’ve processed up either in the blender or the food processor. The soaked dates give my cookies the moisture, sweetness, and chewiness that I crave. Also the added benefit is that I usually can cut down on the sugar a bit because the dates are so naturally sweet. Try it.

  34. Valerie Soszynski Says:

Well my favorite cookies would have to be anything homemade. My sister and I recently made vegan sugar cookies with chocalte frosting. mmm so good!! I made up a vegan persimmon cookie many years ago when I was nine years old. It is a tasty, not-too-sweet, unique cookie that has been loved by vegans and non-vegans alike ever since I created it almost twenty years ago. Coconut macaroons are my favorite because I can eat them without worrying about cholesterol.

  60. Chris Says:

Although they can’t really be called cookies because I’m terrible at baking, my favorite cookies are carob chip peanut butter cookies I make whenever I get a chance. They never come out the same way twice; they’ve been so soft I’ve had to eat them with a spoon, so hard I’ve had to soak them with water to avoid a chipped tooth, and everything in between. But each time I somehow manage to mess them up, they are awesome anyway.

  61. Annie Says:

My fav cookies are the common ones, especially those that could be made healthy vegan verison, for instance oatmeal raisin cookies or oatmeal chocolate cookies.

  62. Kristin Says:

I love making cookies- especially cutouts and pumpkin cookies. The pumpkin cookies don’t need eggs or anything to begin with, as they’re made primarily of pumpkin, and for the cutouts i just substitute flaxseed meal and water for the eggs and Earth Balance buttery spread for the butter. Both are delicious, and i’ve never known anyone who didn’t like them, even amongst my non-vegan friends.

Until recently my favourite cookies were non-existant - I could not find a cookie that was natural, and did not use egg replacer, or other manufactured vegan foods.
Recently, I made PPK’s Pumpkin Oatmeal cookies, and they reminded me of being a kid during Thanksgiving - what an incredible pumpkin cookie for those of us who miss pumpkin pie, and all the warm things the fall has to offer!
I made two batches, and brought one to work, to share with my non-vegan co-workers, who were skeptical of my vegan lifestyle, and these cookies i raved about. They LOVED them, and four out of five asked me for the recipe. A step in the right direction!!
