I am so glad that animals do not have to sacrifice their lives for our style any more.
February 23rd, 2009 at 12:45 am
I could stay there all day the coats, jackets and accessories are beautiful

I have to comment on a trend that I have noticed; this blog has become increasingly geared towards women. I think it is somewhat unfair to see so little regard for the style, fashion, or other interests of men. We’re non-leather wearing vegan members of PETA too; what is the deal?
February 25th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Hey Nathan. Thanks for your suggestion. We do try to have a little something for everyone with categories including companion animals, parenting, health and beauty, family and relationships, etc. I am happy to cover more for men’s animal-friendly fashion/style in the future. Let us know if there is something that you are specifically interested in. Thanks again for your suggestion!

Beautiful coat! I’m amazed and so thankful compassionate, real people and companies honor our animal friends.
February 26th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
nice but i’d feel like i needed to carry a sign saying it’s fake!
February 26th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
it is a beautiful coat and so happy that there is a chance to ever wear something like that….
February 27th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
Isn’t this promoting the use of fur? It looks like fur and it gives people the idea that fur is fashionable. IT’S NOT FASHIONABLE. This is just hypocritical PETA, you’ve even stated in your campaigns that fur is not fashionable.
I’m all for using the alternative to not kill animals for fur but the blatant promotion of this really disgusts me.
Just last weekend a woman came into the store I work at (a small pet supply store) wearing a fur vest. As she browsed the isles I was pondering my polite attack on her when she came up to the register. As I got a better look at the coat I realized that it was fake. So fair warning to faux fur wearers, you may be pounced on by a crazy vegan animal rights nut for mistaking your coat as real.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
I’m so glad they make coats that look real but aren’t if we make coats like that maybe people with be more oppt to buy a fake fur coat that would be great
February 27th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
I echo Nathan’s comment. We are here too, you know, us, guys?? While I understand that 98% of fashion ignores men and it’s for women, those of us guys who are vegan/vegetarian and animal rights advocates need shoes, and other clothes too. Though we may be in the minority throw us a bone, will you?

Unfortunately, Jennifer K. is right! My sister was attacked for wearing a “fur” coat even though it was obviously not real!
February 27th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I agree with Andrea…yes when wearing faux (fake) one should also wear a neon pink anti-fur button, or “fake for the animals sake” patch. Jennifer K. …take note, that is how faux is done. I wanted to be extra clear that when typing the word “faux” I write “fake” because the other day my mom met a woman who was pronouncing it as “fox”.My mom and I proudly wear our anti-fur buttons and we carry extras for those who have the same compassionate views. So this woman complimented her button so my mom said thanks, would you like one? The girl said, ” Sure, thanks! I only like fox fur”. My mom was like wtf? Well the girl was trying to pronounce “faux” and said “fox”. Whoops…BIG whoopsy! To any who wonder, faux is pronounced foe.

And, as mentioned in the contest text, part of the prize pack is PETA’s ‘Faux Not Fur’ pin: https://www.petacatalog.org/prodinfo.asp?number=AT374 so you can let everyone know it’s fake.
If you see someone in a real fur while wearing a fabulous fake, it’s also a good way to start up a conversation about the great alternatives that are available today.

I could never walk down the streets of NYC wearing such a real-looking faux fur in the midst of all of the hags wearing actual furs. So, if I win this, I’m going to sell it on ebay and donate the money to my neighborhood animal shelter.
February 28th, 2009 at 3:25 am
I like it
February 28th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I wouldn’t wear anything that would be connected to cruelty to animals.
IF I wore a faux fur, people around me would think it was real, and thereby mark me as supporting cruelty to animals.
March 1st, 2009 at 5:21 pm
I have a number of “fur babies” and ONLY wear “faux fur”!! I would LOVE to “advertise” with this example of “faux fur” to convince a number of people I am I contact with—that “faux” doesn’t HAVE to look it, although mine does!!
I have ALWAYS been concerned with “the mixed message” this may send out…then, after getting a number of compliments, I started to USE this, as a GREAT way to “Advertise There Is NO NEED To Injure Or Kill—to Look Fabulous!!! Thank You for this contest!!!
March 2nd, 2009 at 12:47 pm
I agree with the people who say it looks too much like real fur. When I see someone wearing fur I get really angry and just want to yell at that person for being a fur hag. I wouldn’t want people to see me like that.
March 5th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Animals have rights too and would rather wear Fake Furs than animals furs. Destroying animals is not the answer. Would love to Win this Prize.
Thanks, CDH
March 5th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
This is a great prize that I would love to Win for my Wife. Also, better to wear the Fake Furs than dead animals! Thanks, Jesus

Perhaps all you people that admit to resisting the urge to “attack” someone for what they’re wearing need to MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS. Take a step back and realise that times have changed. There are many kind hearted, compassionate people who DO wear faux leather/fur. So instead of being aggressive toward others who share a cruelty free lifestyle you could chose to see this as an opportunity to show everyone that there are quality alternatives to killing for fashion.
March 5th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Please lets have fun with this. Too many times PETA and its members leave the impression we are sad, unhappy weird members of the world who do not know how to have fun. Faux Fur is fun and beautiful, soy is good to eat and we are getting the word out. Lighten up and enjoy life and the world will continue to join use in our fight for a kinder world with all beings.
March 6th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Wow ~ it’s fabulous!
This proves that you dont have to harm animals to stay warm and look fabulous!
I would tell everyone and spread the word when i’m wearing this coat, if i win!!!
I love you Peta!!!
March 7th, 2009 at 4:25 am
..its a little disapointing to see peta doing a fake fur jacket prise, because technically if ur wearing fake fur , or not its still advertising the fact that fur is nice to wear.. therefor if people like what your wearing they mite go and buy the real thing.
its a little heard to explane.. just thats my opinion.
wooh I LOVE PeTA!!!..
March 8th, 2009 at 1:49 am

Would like to get these sold in Liverpool and UK Have sent off for the catalogue. If these are as good as they seem to be then what’s the problem in finding an alternative to those appaling Queens Guard helemts?!
March 8th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
I love this catolog - the coats are sensational and who said one “mink” was enough?! I have many other choices earmarked.
March 8th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
What beautiful coats!!! I’m so glad that no one has an excuse to wear fur!
March 9th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
PETA DOES SUCH GREAT WORK….
March 11th, 2009 at 4:54 am
This is GREAT because “compassion IS fashion” and a great way to show it with a fake fur coat with a fake-fur pin!!!!! It’s like having a walking bill board to tell the world to stop the cruelty of animals. I would love to be that walking bill board!!!!!

i agree completely. though i see the concern for wearing faux fur and “promoting” the look of fur, we have to remember that you should be focusing more on promoting good energy, and showing people we aren’t the angry, i-won’t-talk-to-you-if-you-eat-meat people we are often pegged for. it’s great that there are so many people opened up to veganism now… what we can do is be glad more people are becoming open minded about it and not ostracize ourselves. there’s no need to promote hate, and yell at someone for wearing fur, even though it may make you angry. (and believe me i understand) encourage good thoughts, not bad ones!
March 15th, 2009 at 3:15 am
So glad it’s faux.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
My favorite thing about this coat is that it looks so real. Maybe now those nutbags who yell at strangers for wearing fur will have to think twice, “maybe it’s not real”. Hope I win!
March 15th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
These coats are beautiful, faux fur can be very fashionable and warm to wear. PETA just messed up by saying fur wasn’t fashion in the first place. People wore it because it was pretty and warm, just really cruel. There is nothing wrong with wearing one of these beautiful coats, plus they are cheaper than the real thing.
March 19th, 2009 at 1:38 am
beautiful coats - and no killing necessary!
March 19th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Nice coat
March 19th, 2009 at 11:21 am
A coat is a coat.
March 19th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
I love that fact that it looks real, they are stylish and the fact that we don’t have to kill innocent animals to make one.
March 20th, 2009 at 10:46 am
I definitely agree with Shara.
Just because someone wants to look nice, and so they decide to wear a faux fur jacket, that’s no one’s concern but there’s. Faux fur coat’s are warmer. And that may be a reson they like them. They are also soft, and feel nice. You can’t judge someone who wears a faux jacket. Because it don’t have a thing to do with being “hipicritical”. Yesss it maybe be considered as a new trend. And people could get fake one’s. They don’t have to be real.
Thanks, Kayla.

These coats look amazing and I am strongly thinking of purchasing one after reading the great comments. Hope I win, then I’ll buy one for my daughter!
