Win Vegan Designer Shoes from Beyond Skin

If you love clothes and animals, you know that there’s no excuse for making one out of the other. The cruelty behind the leather, fur, and exotic skins trades means that clothes, shoes, and accessories made from animal skins will never be stylish (no matter what fur-hag Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour says).
It’s easy to find cruelty-free fakes on a budget, but what about when you want a really luxurious pair of shoes? Enter Beyond Skin. This U.K. company makes to-die-for shoes for everyday wear and special occasions. We’re hooking one lucky winner up with a pair of shoes from Beyond Skin’s spring/summer ‘09 collection!
Beyond Skin offers shoes that are animal-friendly and fashionable, and the company has a slew of celebrity supporters, including one of PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities, Natalie Portman. Fashionistas and shoe disciples will swoon over Beyond Skin’s classic lines, rich colors, and sumptuous fabrics, while everyone else will simply love stepping out in style ethically!
Many shoe companies still make their footwear from leather, which can come from cows, pigs, goats, alligators, kangaroos, or even dogs and cats. Leather is normally not labeled, so you never really know where (or whom) it came from. Animals who end up as shoes usually endure extreme confinement, crowding, castration without anesthetics, tail-docking, and, of course, slaughter. But thanks to progressive footwear companies like Beyond Skin, you don’t have to support these cruel practices to keep up with fashion trends.
Enter to win! Fill out the form below to enter to win a pair of shoes from Beyond Skin’s spring/summer ‘09 collection. The competition ends on March 10, and winners will be selected and notified by March 17. Good luck!
This contest has now ended.

I’m new to becoming a vegetarian (again) for the second time, but now with a lot more knowledge and the complete drive to keep me going for the rest of my life. I’m very conscious of everything I do and buy now and seeing something like this just opens new doors. I think these cruelty free shoes are fabulous and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for my pair!
February 12th, 2009 at 4:31 pm

I Have been a vegetarian for almost two years, and wearing these shoes would make me feel so proud! Its so hard to find non-leather heels! February 14th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
Thank you so much for this opportunity to support vegan designer shoes!!
February 17th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
I have been stressin’ about finding shoes that are not made from animal skin since I became a vegetarian (a year and a half ago). I was going to ask people on the PETA website what they do about shoes since it’s so hard to find good, professional shoes that are animal friendly. NOW I’m so excited to explore Beyond Skin’s website! Thank you PETA!
February 18th, 2009 at 10:31 am
I would love to wear these shoes! I have been trying to educate myself and me family and friends about animal cruelty and this is one way to show them that no one has to suffer for fashion!
February 19th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
When are they going to bring out designer men’s shoes! Why does being a male vegan necessitate having to wear boring shoes?
February 19th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
I have learned so much from peta. The stories are so sad. I am so glad that I no lomger consume meat or meat products. And I see more and more people following suit. Vegan shoes OH YEAH!!!. Thanks peta for all you do for the animals around the world.
February 19th, 2009 at 11:26 pm
Omigosh, I would love a pair of these, especially for my wedding day. I’ve been vegan for 6mos and going strong. They are super sexy! Love to show my carnivor friends sexy shoes that are animal free and fashionable! Leather, fur, suede, etc are gross and should not be worn by a human, just the animal that skin it belongs to.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:06 am
i luv animals more than my life n i am pure vegetarian and i proud of that and if i will get these cruelity-free shoes than it will be the great honour for me, but i will share one thing that i always wear rubber sandels never use leather

I am from South Africa and am an avid fan and supporter of PETA. I try to do as much as I can to represent PETA’s ideals from my end of the world by actively participating in online campaigns and spreading/sharing PETA’s messages. I became vegetarian after educating myself about the pain, torture, horrific abuse and torment animals go through for human consumption and vanity. I am now working toward becoming vegan. I am franky disgusted to even be human and will fight to my death to protect animals. Their rights and welfare come before any human cause and I will only ever champion animal causes. I really do hope I win those shoes. They are simpy fab!
February 20th, 2009 at 5:05 am
Shoes, belts and leather accessories are the fruit of an invisible animal holocaust. I’m so grateful that there are ‘aware’ companies providing gorgeous shoes and accessories! You can’t wear crocs everywhere! Thank you PETA for helping us live holistically and with integrity.
February 20th, 2009 at 8:17 am
I look in my cupboard and see three pairs of shoes. I honestly feel so happy each time I put them on. I know that I am being true to myself and my set of ethics and that is a great feeling!
I think it’s brilliant that more and more companies are supporting a cruelty free ethos. Anyone who assists a world free of abuse for ANY earthling should be commended!
We can all do so much to help and I know I will never stop being a voice animals.
February 20th, 2009 at 10:08 am
I have a hard time finding shoes not made out of leather. It takes me forever to pick out shoes because I do not want shoes made out of animals. I can sometimes find some cheap man made material shoes. It is hard. It also is hard to find shoes that are not too expensive.
February 20th, 2009 at 11:10 am
LOVE THESE!!!!! Wish there were more vegan clothing out there!
February 20th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
The shoes I see look great and its about time, that we stop abusing anamials to extention.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
I love being vegetarian and be conscious about the cruelty with animals!
I want my pair of shoes! Here in Brazil is so difficulty to find beautiful shoes without death!
Thanks PETA and Beyond Skin!

It’s great to know that there are companies out there who actually care about animals instead of exploiting them for profit.
I just thought I’d mention for those living in the UK, I find New Look are quite good for affordable animal friendly footwear. They do sadly sell some leather and suede shoes, however these are clearly marked and the range of animal friendly shoes they have is pretty good
February 20th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
I have one pair of heels, they are hideous, uncomfortable, and not animal cruelty free. I would gladly throw them out however, at my new job, it is almost a requirement to wear them. Ah the sexest workplace… Anyway, having these shoes would be a great pleasure and whether I get them or not is up to the Universe. But whoever does get them, Congrats! Let us all be grateful for even taking the time to enter such a good cause. So many people do not!!!
Peace!

I have been a vegetarian for 8 years now. Every year I try to improve in an aspect of my life. This year I really want to start using shoes that don’t come from animal skin and what a great way to start then winning a pair of fabalous shoes!!!

I live in an area that is all about hunting, fishing and the good ol’ boys. When trying to be vegetarian it is so hard in this area to find foods that can sustain my family for more than 6 months. I often get ridiculed at work and am told that being vegetarian is why I am sick so often - although I’ve had digestive trouble all my life - it did not start with being a vegetarian. The shoes would be a wonderful addition to support what I try to teach to my co-workers - great stuff is out there without supporting the torture of animals. I’d love to say, “These shoes are great and no animals were hurt in anyway to make them.” Thanks for the opportunity : )
February 20th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
You’re not kidding when you say they are to-die-for shoes! Beautiful. As a vegan I find fashionable, affordable vegan footware the most difficult items to find. These ones are gorgeous and I would love a pair!
February 20th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Those are cute cruelty free designer shoes! it’s a definite must-have<3
February 20th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
OMG, I want them all!!!
February 21st, 2009 at 12:18 am
I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years and I am so glad there is a big movement towards animal friendly shoes and handbags. I would like to see a vegan OR vegetarian designer come up in the ranks. Someone who is an icon. Someone that when when you see their label you KNOW who they are and you KNOW what they and their designs STAND for. I think the label should be green in color…
February 21st, 2009 at 10:52 am
So nice shoes!!! But in Russia, Moscow in the shops is not good shoes without anymal skin, only footwear from leather………..
February 21st, 2009 at 4:18 pm
I am vegan. I love love love all animals.
Thank you so much for this opportunity to support vegan designer shoes!!
February 22nd, 2009 at 9:01 pm
All of those shoes look very uncomfortable. I think it is a bit odd that you support women torturing their feet and throwing their hips and spines out of alighnment with high heels. Doesn’t this company make a nice looking pair of shoes that is good looking and good for you feet?
February 23rd, 2009 at 2:02 am
i love animals alot and thats why ive been vegeterian for 2 years know and thats why i dont wear leather!
but i do love wearing shoes :]

truley the gift of love

Leather, suede, and fur are all beautiful ON THE ANIMALS WHO GOD INTENDED TO WEAR THEM. That doesn’t include human beings. Why, when there are so many other materials, would anyone want to cause such suffering in the name of fashion? It takes the joy out of what should be fun and enjoyable.
February 23rd, 2009 at 6:56 pm
I love the idea of cute things like this that are also cruelty free. :]
If anyone has seen Rock Of Love, do you think Lacie was a good representative of PETA?
February 24th, 2009 at 12:12 am
Hi PETA community, is so good to read those comments from all of you, I am so proud to belong to this BIG FAMILY.
I am from Mexico, and sometimes is really dificult for me to find products like this. Anyone know if I can find something similar here? Or maybe in the States?…
Thanks a lot
Abraham

With the information from Peta way back in the late 80s, I stopped using any thing that was used on animals. Since then I have given up anything that was once living and have found so many really nice things that never hurt one little creature. I am so glad that we see more choices on the open market these days. It is easy to find just about anything you want or need and know that you are doing your best to make this world a better place for all of God’s creatures!
February 27th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Some of those styles look really cool and “tres au currant,” and I am glad to see shoes that are cruelty-free. Sometimes it is easy to forget the smaller accessories like watch bands, belts, sunglass cases and bags & purses that should be cruelty-free too. But as far as these great shoes go, being a guy, I don’t think these will really work for me….unless they come in a man’s size 11! (Just kidding!) I am glad to see so many choices for you ladies, that really is a BIG step forward!
February 27th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
These shoes are fantastic! Nice to see some designer shoes that aren’t made from animal skins. I love shoes and PETA has opened my eyes!!
February 27th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Good shoes; hope to win!
February 27th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I have been a Vegan for a number of years now! I LOVE all of my animals, and I am very happy with my diet. I have been TRYING to, in the last few years, do a total conversion ( make-up, shoes…) and, I have NEVER seen “stylish, vegan shoes”!! I would adore winning a pair, so I can “don them to work” to show all the “non-believers” I am surrounded by—–it CAN be done!!!!
February 27th, 2009 at 7:22 pm
I, generally, sport Vegan MacBeths (I, actually, just won the Hunter Burgan [AFI] pair, through peta2!!! :-)), or, when I’m around my house, a pair of Island Pro sandals, that I got from Pangea. I’ve been looking into dress shoes, since I am, probably going to be dressing up for my High School Reunion, sometime in the near future, but, it’s difficult to find nice-looking Vegan dress shoes, that aren’t ridiculously expensive (which would make it extra nice to win some for free [lol]). (I have lots of synthetic dress shoes, from when I was younger [I've been a Vegetarian for about 10 years], but don’t know what their adhesives contain…So, I really want some new ones that I know are Vegan!]) I have, however, seen some pretty snazzy Vegan dress shoes from NOVACAS (which are, sometimes, even on sale, on one of those online retailers [can't remember if it was MooShoes, or Alternative Outfitters]). For more casual shoes, I am, also, going to be looking into Draven, in the near future.
Non-leather shoes are, actually more prevalent, than people would think…But, I, also, make sure that there are no animal-derived adhesives, in the shoes that I purchase/wear (so, they’re truly Vegetarian/Vegan).
There are a plethora of shoes, from casual, to formal, on Vegan websites, such as Vegan Essentials, Pangea, Mooshoes, and Alternative Outfitters…And, they have a lot of dressy shoes for males. You can, also, look into the specific companies, whose shoes you spot, on those sites, and find more variety/styles (be careful, though…because, whereas some of them are strictly Vegan shoe companies, some, only have certain Vegan shoes…So, know all of the info/specifics, before purchasing a pair [make sure that the ones that you've selected are truly Veg!])

No leather, skins, or fur…Oh my!!!!
I’ve been a vegetarian for fifteen years and a shoe lover my whole life, it’s wonderful to show how you can have style without being cruel to animals!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:10 am
Nice one !!
I completely agree with that, if we are searching for some branded and stylish accessories so there are few companies are there those can fulfill our need in a economical price. I am also a fan of Beyond Skin.
